The History of Vitas Vending

Vitas Vending was founded in 1980 by George Vitas a senior engineer with GKN Sankey. Originally working from his sister’s house, George quickly established himself as the leading supplier of vending services and equipment in Peterborough.

In 1982 Vitas Vending moved into our first offices and workshops at the local Breydon Centre, where the greater space and dedicated workshop enabled us to double in size almost overnight. This marks the first appearance of the bright red Vitas Vending operators van.

Within a couple of years we had once again outgrown our premises, so in 1984 we began construction of one of the very first purpose built vending facilities in the UK – featuring a dedicated showroom (another first) our new premises helped us gain contracts with some of the best known companies in and around Peterborough.

Due to our continued success in 2000 Vitas Vending purchased 3 acres of land in the heart of Peterborough Industry and began construction of the Vitas Business Centre – our own privately owned business park and home to the new Vitas Vending HQ, one of the largest and most advanced vending facilities in the UK.

There are now over 2,000 Vitas Vending machines in the marketplace dispensing around 30 million drinks, snacks, and refrigerated food items to companies in and around Peterborough each year.
